I am Taro Koyanagi, I was a Japanese teacher at Japanese school in Tokyo and started up the Learning Catchball in 2009 to help people to learn Japanese.

Online small group course

Message from Japanese teacher

I am Ayaka, in charge of online Japanese group lessons at the Learning Catchball. Let's learn Japanese speaking, making sentences, grammar, vocabulary with us. We are happy to help you to learn them. I am looking forward to seeing you online.

Lesson fees

• First you can take a free trial lesson. After that you can decide to sign up for the course or not.

• You can decide how many lessons you will take a month. Based on the lesson days you will take, your lesson fee for the month will be determined. If you take 5 lessons a month, it will be 10,000yen.

Textbook(Learning materials)

• We offer our learning materials for speaking/making sentences exercises, grammar guidance, vocabulary list to our students in each lesson, so you don't need to buy any textbooks.

• You can select the following level course.

Basic course

• We have 6 to 8 lessons a month. This course is for 12 months, but when your Japanese gets to the next class level, you can go up to the next class in the middle of this course.

• You can get the basics of Japanese through this course. You can learn basic vocabulary, grammar, making basic sentences and practice basic Japanese conversation with our online Japanese teacher

• ※To join this course, you need to know how to read Hiragana and Katakana.

Pre-intermediate course

• This course is for 6 months. We have 10 to 12 lessons a month.

• You can learn vocabulary, grammar, making sentences at pre-intermediate (N4 level) and practice speaking Japanese with our online Japanese teacher.

Intermediate course

• This course is for 6 months. We have 10 to 12 lessons a month.

• You can learn vocabulary, grammar, making sentences at intermediate (N3 level) and practice speaking Japanese with our online Japanese teacher.

StepⅠ:Application

• Please submit the application form at the bottom of this page. After we receive your application, we will send you the zoom link for the class.

StepⅡ:Free trial lesson

• After the trial lesson, our teacher will explain to your about our course. If you have any questions, you can ask our teacher directly.

StepⅢ:Confirm

• After the free trial lesson, we will ask you if you will apply for our regular lesson or not. If you decide to apply for our regular lesson, please tell us how many lessons you will take a month. Based on the lesson days you will take, your lesson fee monthly will be determined.

Payment

• ※Payment method : You can select bank transfer or paypal. We ask you to pay with paypal while you are outside Japan. If you make the payment with paypal, there's a 5% surcharge.

Online private course

• We introduce you an online private Japanese teacher according to your preference. First he/she will offer you a free trial lesson for 30 minutes and suggests a lesson plan tailored to your goals. After that you can decide to sign up for the teacher's regular lesson or not.

Step 1 : Application / Free trial lesson

• After we receive your application, we will ask you when you like to take a trial lesson. A free trial lesson is available every day between 7:00 and 23:00(Japan time).

• After we arrange our Japanese teacher for you, we will send you his/her information. If you like to try his/her trial lesson, we will exchange the email address and let him/her guide you to the trial lesson by email. If you have any questions or requests for learning Japanese, you can ask your teacher at the trial lesson.

Step 2 : Confirmation

• After the trial lesson, we ask you if you sign up for his/her regular lesson or not.

• You can select a lesson course below. If you take a 30 minutes course 4 times a month, lesson fee for 1 month will be 8,000 yen( 2,000 yen × 4 lessons).

• ※Textbooks fees are not included in the above lesson fee.

Step 3 : Payment(lesson fee)

• If you decide to apply for his/her regular lesson, you need to pay lesson fee to him/her(your Japanese teacher) directly. Basically you need to pay lesson fee for the next 1 month in advance.

Step 4 : Payment(introduction fee)

• We ask you to pay the introduction fee 3,000 yen (Only once payment) to the Learning Catchball.

• Only in case you decide to apply for his/her regular lesson, we will charge you the introduction fee. If you decide not to apply, you don't need to pay it.

• Japanese level
  If you are not sure of Hiragana and Katakana, please select 『0 level』
  If you are sure of Hiragana/Katakana, but not sure of making basic sentences in Japanese, please select 『Hiragana level』
  If you are sure of making basic sentences in Japanese, but you are not sure of Japanese basic form(Te form/Futu(plain) form), please select 『Basic sentence level』
